A rescue of one "Gentlemen's Express."
As a family, we are second owners of this fine motorcar. Our father, who was quite an enthusiast of the brand, left this car to his son and daughter upon his passing in 2018.
Our father, Bob Erickson, developed an admiration for Jensen automobiles in the mid- 1970's.
Semi-retired from careers as an investment advisor and real estate investor, he purchased this car out of Southern California after salvage from side damage and did a restoration in 1985.
This snapshot shows him alongside this car during his rebuild with his 1974 Saloon hardtop in the other bay at his Sacramento, CA home.
Acquired with CA license plate 1HYB805 after an accident totaled the car. As a consequence, it does have a salvage mark in California title.
He made a full time job of a ground up restoration of this car upon his purchase and cared for it over the decades that followed in Monterey and Sacramento, CA.
In the day, the capitol city of California was a focal point of Jensen owners. I recall an owners' association magazine editor living here in the late '70s as well.
Forty-Five years on, this care continues to exude a gracious elegance all the while being a full-throated muscle car.
Life has been 100% California, leaving the body free of rust (salt) concerns common to Eastern cars. Little issues here and there can benefit from the joyful attention of a dedicated enthusiast. See the notes page for the update.
